Urhobo Rural Legal Assistant
non-profit law firm

WHO ARE WE?

Urhobo Rural Legal Assistance (URLA) is the humanitarian and public-interest legal arm of the Urhobo Young Lawyers Forum (UYLF).
It was created to ensure that no Urhobo youth, family, or community is denied justice because of financial barriers.

URLA provides free legal support, guidance, and advocacy for individuals and communities across Urhoboland and the global Urhobo diaspora, focusing on the legal challenges that directly affect youths, rural areas, and underserved groups.

URLA is also the official sponsor and coordinator of the Urhobo Youth Helpline — our fully active support line for legal advice, guidance, and reporting cases that require urgent attention.

    • Confidential consultations

    • Case reporting

    • Mentorship and referral

    • Emergency rights protection

The helpline is active and accessible to every Urhobo youth worldwide.

Your voice matters. Your rights matter. URLE is here for you.

Why URLA Matters:

  • Many Urhobo youths cannot afford legal representation.

  • Rural communities lack access to reliable legal support.

  • Environmental and socio-economic challenges affect justice delivery.

  • Young people need guidance to understand their rights.

URLE bridges this gap by bringing the law directly to the people who need it most.

Become a Volunteer

Urhobo Rural Legal Assistance (URLA) depends on passionate and committed young lawyers who want to make a real difference in their communities. As a volunteer, you become part of a growing movement that ensures justice is not limited to those who can afford it.

Why Lawyers Should Volunteer with URLA?

1. Serve Your Community With Purpose

Many Urhobo youths and families cannot access legal help due to financial hardship. By volunteering, you directly help those who have nowhere else to turn — resolving disputes, protecting rights, and restoring dignity.

2. Build Your Practical Legal Experience

URLA handles real legal issues from real people: land disputes environmental harm labour cases human rights violations corporate and energy-related matters This gives young lawyers hands-on experience you cannot learn in classrooms.

3. Strengthen Your Professional Reputation

Volunteering with a respected legal-development organization boosts your CV, credibility, and visibility within the legal community. It shows commitment to justice, service, and leadership.

4. Network With Senior Urhobo Legal Professionals

URLA is under UYLF, which means volunteering automatically connects you with: experienced lawyers mentors advocates judges public interest leaders This is an opportunity to grow, learn, and expand your influence.
